Audience: Funders, partners, and movement-aligned audiences
Challenge: Annual impact stories needed to live as immersive digital experiences
Solution: Interactive microsites with scroll storytelling and multimedia
Result: Bold, movement-driven platforms that made mission tangible
Where They Started
Tides believes a just and equitable future is possible only when communities historically denied power have the tools to create it.
Their annual impact reports aren’t simple updates. They are storytelling hubs — weaving data, partner voices, and bold visuals to show how Tides backs changemakers in climate justice, democracy, reproductive justice, and beyond.
They needed digital experiences that could:
- Turn annual updates into dynamic, story-driven microsites
- Maintain interactive elements like scroll navigation and multimedia
- Highlight leadership and strategy shifts
- Attract aligned partners, funders, and talent
What Was Getting in the Way
Tides had ambitious storytelling goals, but lacked the internal capacity to design and build immersive microsites at the scale they envisioned.
Their team needed a partner who could translate movement energy into digital design without losing understanding, accessibility, or credibility.
As their Senior Creative Manager shared:
“We lacked the internal capability to develop microsites/web pages. Olivia is extremely bright and had incredible ideas and insights for our project. Team was very responsive and easy to work with.”
What We Built
Over three years of collaboration—2021, 2022, and 2024—we created vibrant, interactive microsites that combined scroll-based storytelling, multimedia, and thoughtful UX.
Tides’ first interactive overview featured horizontal scroll, community leader voices, and the full breadth of their partnerships. Animation, audio, and branded storytelling brought it all to life.
2022: Shifting Power to Build Movements
With a sharper focus on democracy, climate justice, and reproductive justice, we introduced bold layouts, embedded video, and movement-focused visuals that mirrored Tides’ deepening commitment to systems change.
The latest microsite leaned into dynamic visuals with large-format photography, striking color, and clear thematic sections. It highlighted a year of bold wins with clarity and energy.
Each year built on the last, creating a recognizable digital language for Tides’ storytelling.
What Changed
Annual impact storytelling became a cornerstone digital experience.
The microsites helped Tides communicate mission momentum, leadership evolution, and community power in ways static reports couldn’t capture.
The result is a repeatable storytelling platform that grows with the organization—immersive, accessible, and built for audiences who expect digital-first engagement.
