Peninsula Family Service
Through intentional annual report design, Peninsula Family Service celebrated its 75th anniversary while reintroducing its mission to a new generation of supporters.
Project Summary
Peninsula Family Service has been a trusted cornerstone of the Bay Area for 75 years, helping children, families, and older adults not just survive, but thrive. As they approached this milestone, they didn’t just want to report numbers. They wanted to honor a legacy, tell a powerful story, and reignite connection with supporters old and new.
That’s where we came in.
Acton Circle partnered with Peninsula Family Service to craft a visually compelling, story-rich annual report—one that doubled as a legacy piece and a launchpad for the next chapter of impact.
Despite deep community roots, their story hadn’t fully reached new audiences. So we designed with intention to help them:
- Reflect 75 years of service with a modern, forward-looking aesthetic
- Build a cohesive storytelling system that honors the past while looking ahead
- Attract younger, more diverse supporters through inclusive and relevant visuals
- Create adaptable assets for both digital and print platforms
- Stay rooted in their brand, while elevating it to match their real-time relevance

We designed an 18-page interactive annual report that captured both the heart and breadth of PFS’s work—balancing modern layouts with warm, community-driven photography. Every detail—from strategic white space to intentional color use—was crafted to feel “coffee table quality” while honoring the brand’s established palette.
We also enhanced Peninsula Family Service's signature title pattern, refining its scale and placement to create a stronger visual rhythm throughout the report. This subtle update gave the publication a more elevated and cohesive feel without departing from their existing brand system.
Deliverables included:
- A print annual report
- An animated PDF version for digital distribution
- Repurposed, everygreen assets for social media, email, and donor outreach (15+ pieces)
As a result, Peninsula Family Service gained a refreshed visual identity for its signature communications piece—one that honors its heritage while positioning the organization as forward-thinking, inclusive, and deeply connected to the Bay Area’s evolving needs.
